"The Unended Journey"

Warning: This poem is cheesy, but dear to me.

Take me back to the time
 Where we were two souls.
A boy and a girl
stories untold.

Learning to like while
learning to live.
We learned how to move
And how much we could give.

No one ever expected
this boy and this girl
to let go of first impressions
and spin with the world.

Take me back to the time
we sat under the stars.
Lost in life's moments
we revealed who we are.

You didn't scare
And I didn't fade,
That night is a moment
we now own and made.

It wasn't a date,
but it was a Friday night game.
The time I first met your sister,
who already knew my name.

Take me back to the time
you said to look into your eyes.
You asked me a question
that changed both our lives.

Not too long after
we sat side by side.
You were looking for courage
while I was along for the ride.

The moon has never shone
as bright as that night
you said three words
that took all your might.

Take me back to the time
where we didn't know
what it would take
to survive on our own.

We panicked and cried
we dreaded the day
I would leave you behind
Because I couldn't stay.

Shortly thereafter
we strengthened our bond
in a puppy so small
he fit in your palm.

Take me back to the time
I saw you again
After being lost
frustrations came to an end.

Back then we didn't know
how strong we could be
just by carrying one another
in hearts set free.

That summer flew by.
We didn't drift apart.
Where others end
we took pride in our start.

Take me back to the time
we would rather forget.
We were lost and alone
losing love's bet.

Instead of crumbling
we started to build.
Our foundation was strong
expectations set and filled.

Though we surely lost footing
we never lost hope
that this was our path-
we learned how to cope.

Take me back to the time
our family grew again
because I batted my eyes
and a furrier puppy was in.

We drove like maniacs
the second we heard
our baby was hurt-
I couldn't speak a word.

After a time
Things and bones fell into place.
We found our rhythm
And we set the pace.

Take me back to the time
where I was a mess.
Papers and finals due,
But you had reservations not to miss.

A surprise and laughter
both at my expense.
You were different that night
nervous, fidgety, and tense.

I was in the middle of a conversation
when you interrupted me.
Slowly I turned to you
down on one knee.

I could say take me back
to the time I said yes,
But I'm afraid it makes sense
now to speak in present tense.

Every morning I wake
And to my right side
sits a ring box
emptied daily with pride.

Each day with the ring
I go back to these times
where I was always yours
and you were always mine.

Soon there will be a boy
waiting for a girl
all dressed in white
and wearing her grandmother's pearls.

All of these moments
And so many more
will be carried down an aisle,
for richer or poor.

Though now a boy and girl
sit far apart
their story is far from over
as it beats on in their hearts.

Jestem polski

After a long day, I finally returned home around 11:40 p.m.

Tired, hungry, and irritated, I thought about different options I had of relieving my stress.

I quickly downed three pickles, one right after the other.

Which leads me to say, "Jestem polski."

I am Polish.

Down the rabbit hole...

I have to say that, in general, the transition from winter to spring feels like falling down the rabbit hole. You leave a glum world and enter one with promise and light. I, for one, much prefer this side of the rabbit hole. Who wouldn't when you see the following things on a daily basis?

Shhhhhh!!! Look closely, the server is preparing some strawberry margaritas... Three to be exact. She'll be easier to see if you click on the image and make it the full size.

These blushing beauties seem to be multiplying daily!! Although some of our neighbors go a bit over the top with tremendous amounts of tulips, these guys are more beautiful and happier by far. You can also hear my mother and I screaming at my brothers to be careful around the flowers while they play outside. Just another day in the neighborhood. =)

I wish I could express how much I love the fact that this tree is nearly ready to bloom near our front door. The smell of its blossoms is absolutely amazing and the white flowers are so beautiful in such huge amounts. I can't wait until all the blossoms look like the following picture...

Finally, I leave you with two characters always greeting me after arriving home. Their friendly faces are a sight for sore eyes after a long day in retail land.

Where the Butterflies Fly

There is a place where the butterflies fly. With fields of flowers and places to play, where the butterflies fly is a fun place to stay.

To get to this place, a butterfly knows, you must shut your eyes and follow your nose.
Follow a fragrance that is soft and sweet; A floral fragrance hard to miss and hard to beat.

When you enter the place where the butterflies fly you witness that some things have more purpose than meets the eye.

And butterflies know that even the smallest of things can have royal, even princess-like dreams.

With walls linked together of green and white, butterflies can dream in peaceful sleep at night.

A butterfly well is a place for only a few things. You see, the purpose of a butterfly well is to place wishes, hopes and dreams.

As a butterfly flies, he or she finds friends' named Azalea and Daffodil have great places to hide.

As the butterfly hides in a spot hard to see, he or she spies on a sight never before seen.

Honey bees fly to the place they call home. The hive where they live is decorated with honeycombs.

The butterflies reappear to witness and see a house for the birds hidden amongst the trees.

With all they've seen the butterflies tire and must stop for a drink at a magical spot, full of sweet nectar and shade to cool off.

When ready and willing the butterflies continue their trail. They love to fly and share their tales.

The butterflies spot a friendly home where the light is not turned off and a new friend is no longer alone.

Sometimes butterflies avoid the craziest things. Like orchids in air saying "Look, ma, no strings!"

Other times the butterflies stop to sit a spell on Mushrooms too beautiful to believe,
That when people point and say "fungus" they are referring to them indeed.

While the butterflies fly they never hesitate to stop.
Butterflies believe if you don't stop to smell Magnolia, well, you'll miss a lot.

The butterflies travel with partners sometimes. Meet the beautiful Lilly sisters, all named Calla so their mother could save some time.

Now, I must urge you caution when telling the tale of the butterflies flying to a fairy tale place. You see, speaking such things have gotten me in quite a state.

I observe and I watch as the butterflies fly, it has taken me time but I can finally say a few things about what the butterflies do with their day.

I sit and I wait as the some come to rest on my resting site where I, like I said, rest.

One time I asked a beautiful butterfly why they come to visit and stop by. The part butter, part fly answered my question with a gentle brush of her wings and a look in the other direction. As she was flying away she said to me, "Why we fly to see you and other amazing things."

So when butterflies fly in your direction any day, know you're amazing or else they wouldn't be flying your way.

Sleepless in Minnesota

Tonight I am, tragically, unable to find any sleep. I thought I would take this opportunity to show off some of the handsome men in my life.

Meet Stephen: charismatic, smooth-talking, and 173rd Street West's most Eligible Bachelor...

Cue Jeffrey: handsome, sensitive, witty, and smells of pure man...

Enter Brian: Cute, brilliant, gentle, and dashing...

Then there's Tony: Heart-breaker, dream-chaser, trouble-maker...

Beware finding these manly men congregating in one place as it is likely your heart will break, side will split from laughter, and some pains in your ass may ensue...

Furthermore, tread carefully around a new addition to the Hunt tradition...

Exhibit K: Kelly--armed and dangerous. Approach with caution as he is spoken for and his weapons are no match for the wrath of his intended.

The elusive Mr. H. Hard to photograph in his natural habitat... Most pictures are only acquired as he attacks his prey:

Danger ahead: 007 has nothing on the following gentleman...

Exercise caution around the following pair as they will certainly steal your heart... And your hamburger...

Last, but certainly not least in the heart of a proud Aunt, we find a true baby-faced angel...
Special note: Photo taken by Angela Ko ourlittlebonbon.blogspot.com

Much love to all the men in my life. You've entertained me through the best of times and the worst of times. But most of all, you've gotten me to the point where I can finally close my eyes and fall asleep.

Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone.

I can dream of the old days.
Life was beautiful then.
I remember the time I knew what happiness was.
Let the memories live again.

 :: Guinea Pigs. ::
 :: Demon children. ::

 :: Love::

When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory, too.
And a new day will begin.

Touch me. It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory of my days in the sun.
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is.
Look, a new day has begun.

Thanks to everyone for just some of the memories I have listed above.

I have my review at work tonight. Hopefully all things go well. But prickly subjects are certainly ahead.

Poetry

I mentioned in my first post that I would sometimes post short stories or other things that make me feel like I'm using my major. In school, I hated reading and analyzing poetry (still do--ask my brother Brian when I'm helping him with his homework). Ironically, though, poetry is one of the things that I find easiest to write. The following poem has taken me a while to write as it has been a journey only experienced with time. It's nowhere near as beautiful as the pictures of flowers, but it is close to my heart and ready to be shared.

Graduation

She felt trapped.
She felt stuck.
She couldn't understand
how she had run out of luck.

She looked up.
She looked down.
Her smile never hesitated
to quickly turn into a frown.

She breathed out.
She breathed in.
The time for change, she decided,
was about to begin.

Out with the fear.
In with the faith.
Every day she tells herself
she is finding her place.

She's no longer trapped.
She's no longer stuck.
Instead of looking down
she always looks up.

It took her some time,
but she finally sees:
The best way to take a breath
is to just breathe.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all things beautiful...

And all things old...

All things tired...

And all things excited...

To all things that smell good...

And those that smell questionable at times...

To the serious...

And the waiting...

Happy Easter to all those different, but the same...

Happy Easter to all those near and far. I hope everyone's Easter is as full of laughter and joy as mine!
